Chugach Electric Careers is Hiring a Shop Mechanic, Night Shift Near Anchorage, AK
- To perform all required mechanics' duties, including overhaul of major engine and drive train components, including heavy equipment hydraulic and power train systems.
- To service, repair, and maintain vehicles and equipment so as to ensure the highest level of efficient, economical, and safe operation.
- Reports to: Senior Shop Mechanic.
- Directs: None.
- Provides service, repair, and maintenance of the Association's vehicles and equipment, including engines, power trains, brakes, hydraulics, suspension, steering, electrical, and preventive maintenance.
- Performs major engine and drive train overhauls.
- Overhauls heavy equipment including hydraulic systems and power trains.
- Performs preventative maintenance to reduce the incidence of breakdowns.
- Performs welding duties as required.
- Performs minor repairs and servicing, mounts tires in shop and field.
- Requisitions parts and material.
- Notifies supervisor or Shop Foreman of equipment problems, discusses solutions.
- Maintains safe work habits in shop and field.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Formal training in repair and overhaul of complex vehicle and heavy-duty systems and components.
ExperienceFive years' experience including performance of major overhauls of engine and drive trains. Experience in all phases of heavy-duty equipment including hydraulic and power train components.
Abilities And SkillsMust be able to personally perform service, repair and maintenance of engines, power trains, brakes, hydraulics, suspensions and steering, electrical systems, preventive maintenance on a fully skilled level.
Other RequirementsValid Alaska Commercial Driver's license (CDL). Medical Examiner's Certificate as required by the State of Alaska. Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR Certificate or State of Alaska equivalent.
Must be available for Department call-outs after normal working hours.
