The case aide is responsible for assisting resettlement case managers and the resettlement supervisor with any services required under the Cooperative Agreement with the Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugee and Migration, as well as under the Matching Grant (MG) Agreement with the Office of Refugee Resettlement.

Essential Duties:

  • Assists the resettlement supervisor in all duties related to the successful resettlement of refugees and Matching Grant clients by ensuring timely delivery of services. These include possible evening airport pickups for newly arriving refugees, transportation to appointments, housing set ups, and home visits, among others. During the COVID-19 lockdown, performs most services remotely or in a socially-distanced and safe manner, in accordance to office protocols.
  • Provides interpretation and translation services to refugee clients, including intakes and orientation.
  • Connects clients to in-house support and makes referrals to external service providers as necessary to assist clients in achieving self-sufficiency.
  • Assists the resettlement supervisor in preparing and documenting monthly maintenance assistance requests and distributes disbursements.
  • Assists the resettlement supervisor in any duties he/she deems necessary.

Case Management

  • Documents all services in clients case notes.
  • Records all financial transactions in clients financial tracking logs.
  • Assists the resettlement supervisor in any duties they deem necessary.

Common Duties :

  • Advocates on behalf of refugees, and refugee-serving voluntary agencies.
  • Keeps informed about refugee and immigrant issues, and available services to refugees, using current information to better identify and serve refugee clients.
  • Represents the program relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Undertakes other duties as assigned.
  • Performs all duties in culturally appropriate manner.
  • Works varied hours, including occasional night and weekend work.

Education: High School Diploma Required

Experience:

  • Previous work experience in refugee resettlement or other direct social services is preferred.
  • Ability to provide culturally-sensitive service and a willingness to work with a diverse, non-English speaking clientele is required.

Other Skills:

  • Written and verbal communication skills in the English language are required.
  • Fluency in Swahili, Kinyarwanda or other refugee language is highly preferred but not required.
  • The successful candidate must be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word and Access) and internet applications.
  • Must be over 21 years of age.
  • The successful candidate must have a valid drivers license and insurable driving record.
