Job Title: Welder, Lead Business Title: Welder, Lead Department: Manufacturing Job Code: 9LAE10 FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt Job GradeShift: 1st Reports to: Plant Manager Position Overview: The Code Welder Team Leader directs and coordinates the activity of a group of Code and Structural welders to accomplish assigned tasks. The Code Welder Team Leader is responsible for assisting the plant management in achieving the overall manufacturing goals and objectives of the organization. This includes but is not limited to Safety, Quality, Productivity, Efficiency, On-time Delivery and employee morale. Essential Job Functions
As a working member of the team, leads a group of Code Welders in accomplishing assigned tasks to meet production needs. Approximately 75% of time will be dedicated to direct production and 25% of time dedicated to problem solving, training and other team management activities.
Supports a philosophy of zero accidents by following all applicable safety procedures while enforcing safe, efficient, cost effective and environmentally appropriate operations of their area of responsibility
Continually improves the safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety awareness. Improve and maintain housekeeping in all areas
Demonstrates strong leadership behaviors conducive to building team cohesiveness while setting an example to others. Administers company policies in a fair and consistent manner
Conducts safety talks with employee groups and assists with incident & near miss safety investigations as required
Monitors, updates, takes action to attain, and reports progress against team goals. Assists plant management in accomplishing all plant goals and objectives
Assist Supervisor in evaluation of employee performance and provides feedback to plant management for employee evaluations and discipline
Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude.
Flexibility to work hours necessary to meet plant requirement
Other related duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent
7 years of experience and knowledge of industry specific equipment or processes
Proficient skills with the latest versions of MS Office: Word, Excel and Outlook
Must be able to recognize and treat information with required appropriate confidentiality
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area (50 miles) of facility location will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
Manufacturing experience in a leadership capacity
Knowledgeable in manufacturing safety
