Cimolai-HY LLC is Hiring a Crane Operator Near Olean, NY

The Structural Steel Crane Operator is responsible for operating cranes and other heavy equipment to lift, move, position, and place structural steel components. This role requires precision, safety awareness, and compliance with all relevant regulations and safety protocols.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional technical training or certification in crane operation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating cranes in a construction environment, preferably with a focus on structural steel.
  • Valid NCCCO Crane Operator certification a plus.
  • Proficiency in operating various types of cranes.
  • Strong understanding of load calculations, rigging techniques and hand signals.
  • High level of attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy loads and long hours of operation.
  • Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic math and measurement principles.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operate various types of cranes to lift, move, and position structural steel components.
  • Ensure proper rigging and secure lifting of loads to prevent accidents and damage.
  • Competent understanding of OSHA 1910 Material Handling and Crane Guidelines.
  • Perform pre-operation checks and regular maintenance of the crane to ensure safe operation.
  • Calculate load capacities, weight, and rigging requirements to ensure safe lifting operations.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Conduct site safety inspections and report any hazards or unsafe conditions to the site supervisor.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and emergency drills.
  • Maintain accurate logs of crane operations, including load details, maintenance activities, and incidents.
  • Complete required paperwork and reports as directed by the site supervisor or manager.
  • Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other personnel to ensure efficient and safe lifting operations.
  • Provide support and assistance to other team members as needed.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of the crane and associated equipment.
  • Identify and report any mechanical issues or malfunctions to the maintenance team.
  • Transport materials within the facility using forklifts, cranes, or other equipment.
  • Handle materials carefully to prevent damage or injury.
  • Deliver materials to production areas according to the production schedule.
  • Coordinate with production supervisors to prioritize work and ensure timely supply of materials.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on material handling equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to maintenance staff.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate material flow and resolve any issues or concerns that arise.
