The Center for Spiritual and Grief Support at a Glance:An illness or hospital stay may be one of the hardest things a person ever goes through. A loved one’s illness affects the whole family. We understand that spiritual life is important to many people in times like this. Some people find comfort in religious practices like prayer. Others gain strength from things like music, art, stories, or nature. Some need a good listener to talk with about their worries, beliefs, or doubts. Our Spiritual Care Providers (also known as Chaplains) are here to help. We are members of the healthcare team. Our focus is on the wellbeing of the patient’s and family’s spirit. We work with people of all religions and beliefs, and strive to understand what gives each person meaning and purpose. Our goal is to connect patients and families with the things that bring them courage and hope in tough times. We are now recruiting a Staff Chaplain II/QI Researcher that will provide spiritual care to patients/families & clinical staff, advocate for patients/families, educate the healthcare team to the impact of religious/spiritual beliefs on coping and medical decision making, partner with the research team on QI & research projects, train & educate new staff, serve as a resource to our Clinical Pastoral Education Program. Required Education And Experience
Graduate-level theological degree from a college, university or theological school accredited by a member of the Council for Higher Accreditation.
4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education as offered through an ACPE accredited organization.
Ordination, current endorsement, or good standing in accordance with the requirements of his/her/their own faith tradition or endorsing agency.
Board Certification recognized by Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Association of Professional Chaplains, Canadian Association for Spiritual Care, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, and Neshama Association of Jewish Chaplains; or others as agreed upon by the Director of the Center for Spiritual & Grief Care that meet the Common Qualifications and Competencies for Professional Chaplains (www.professionalchaplains.org).
3-5 years’ experience in providing spiritual care.
Preferred Experience And Skills
Experience with or understanding of quality improvement science.
Presentation/publication of topics related to spiritual care and health at the community or regional level.
Status/Shift: Full-time, 40 hours per week/Day Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift. On-call and back-up coverage rotation required. Location: Burnet Campus, 3333 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati OH 45226 Pay: $59,000-$75,000 annually Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital needs. Masters degree in related field. May require clinical license, certification or training
