HS GIRLS VARSITY HEAD VOLLEYBALL COACH:
Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the entire Girls Volleyball Program.
  • Develop and execute an effective training program.
  • Motivate, develop, and train young women to play Volleyball.
  • Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development.
  • Manage game strategies and game day logistics.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
  • Be knowledgeable of practice planning with drills that will instruct both beginners and advanced players.
  • Instruct fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
  • Guild student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, self-confidence and good sportsmanship.
  • Work cooperatively and in a timely matter, with the School Athletic and the District Athletic Department, in regard to requests for information that might be required and periodically requested.
  • Meet all requirements set forth by the District State Board of Education. The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to the mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) and the ODE Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
  • Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, and OHSAA.
  • Check student-athletes academic eligibility.
  • Model the behavior expected of student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games; being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the discipline of the program.
  • Set a positive example at all times while with student-athletes.
  • Has respect through his/her example in appearance, behavior, language and conduct at all time.
  • Maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
  • Show physical vitality and enthusiasm for the sport with use of good judgment and decision-making.
  • Schedule pre-season practices on the first day permitted for that sport.
  • Schedule a full season of contests including State Tournament Games.
  • Participate in clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
  • Participate in School Events (i.e., Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.).
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt properly to changing game situations.
  • Be well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport as well as look at ways to constantly improve knowledge and coaching techniques.
  • Is innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to already proven methods of coaching.
  • Ensure that team is well-prepared for opponent(s).
  • Follow School's Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in job description.
  • Maintenance and inventory of equipment and supplies.
Skills/Essential Functions:
  • Fundraising experience.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model
  • Has ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, officials, fans, etc.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
TRAINING/CERTIFICATION:
  • Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
  • Successful participation in a similar activity in high school and/or college. Evidence of successful past coaching experience at the high school or college level is desired.
  • Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check, State BCI Check, and FBI Fingerprint Background Check.
  • Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupils Activity Permit (PAP).
  • Completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training and Certification.

SALARY: Per Schedule E of current C.F.T. Labor Agreement
