This role will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and performance of the Network Operations Center team. This includes managing a team of NOC technicians, ensuring network reliability, and coordinating rapid response to network events and issues. The NOC Supervisor will be tasked with monitoring systems, evaluating incident response, and implementing continuous improvement measures to maintain optimal network performance. As a key team leader, the NOC Supervisor fosters team development, enforces quality standards, and collaborates across departments to ensure service excellence and minimal downtime.
What You’ll Accomplish and Experience
- Supervise and manage a team of NOC technicians, including scheduling, coaching, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Ensure timely and effective response to network incidents, minimizing downtime and impact on operations.
- Oversee network monitoring systems, identify and escalate network and system alerts, and ensure proactive maintenance of network health.
- Lead and conduct post-incident reviews, including root cause analysis, documentation, and process improvements.
- Act as a primary escalation point for high-priority incidents, guiding the team in real-time troubleshooting and resolution efforts.
- Collaborate with other departments to develop, document, and refine incident management processes and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Ensure team adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and compliance with security protocols and industry best practices.
- Track and report on NOC performance metrics based on KPIs, analyze trends, and implement strategies to improve performance and response time.
- Coordinate with network engineering and IT support teams to support network upgrades, patching, and other maintenance activities.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team through regular training, mentoring, and feedback.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desirable Previous Experience
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure, protocols, and troubleshooting, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools (e.g., Victoria Metrics, SolarWinds, Zabbix) and incident management systems (e.g., ConnectWise, ServiceNow, Jira).
- Knowledge of firewall, switch, and router configurations and the ability to diagnose and resolve network-related issues.
- Experience with network security practices, including intrusion detection systems, threat analysis, and incident response.
- Familiarity with operating systems (Linux, Windows), and virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Understanding of standard media technologies.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical approach to identifying and resolving complex technical issues.
- Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to document processes and convey technical information to a non-technical audience both internally and externally.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing situations under pressure.
- Customer-oriented mindset with a commitment to maintaining service quality and user satisfaction.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call rotation, to support 24/7 network operations.
