Circle of Life is Hiring a RN Manager - Hospice Inpatient Unit Near Bentonville, AR

Minimum Qualifications: Unrestricted RN license. Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, with 3 or more in a leadership/supervisory capacity.

Required Skilss/Knowledge/Abilities: Flexibility with schedule to meet the needs of the organization. Excellent verbal, written, and phone communication skills. The ability to plan, organize and prioritize. Effectively meet goals and achieve deadlines. Must have the ability to be proactive with projects, tasks and responsibilities. Work independently to accurately assess, prioritize, plan, communicate and execute change to meet the goals and mission of Circle of Life. The ability to work as a member of a team able to delegate, direct and manage others sensitively. Ability to stay calm under stressful conditions. Excellent clinical and critical thinking skills. Knowledge of and ability to coordinate ancillary staff, DME, and Pharmacy needs for the IPU.

General Description: Provides general oversight for inpatient clinical operations ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the department with both administrative and clinical responsibilities. The Clinical Manager oversees and ensures care provided for patients and families is coordinated in a safe, effective and efficient manner.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Oversee daily staff assignments ensuring appropriate patient/staff ratios as well as assigning patients according to need and staff skill level.
  2. Maintain oversight of medication administration, promoting procedures and policies to ensure safety of medication administration and storage.
  3. Work closely with the unit secretary, DME manager, and IPU team to monitor and order supplies, equipment, and medication in the most cost efficient manner to meet the patient's needs.
  4. Ensures the medication rooms and care supplies are stocked, organized, and easily accessible for nursing staff.
  5. Coordinates the daily admission process as the point person with the admission staff, field staff, IPU SW and physician to ensure admissions are a well-coordinated effort by all disciplines.
  6. Assigns and oversees all new admissions, deaths, discharges and transfers ensuring coordination with other departments.
  7. Completes IPOC's for all new admissions and ensures care for the patients are provided in accordance of their assessed needs.
  8. Monitors staff documentation ensuring patient care assessments and contacts are documented accurately and timely.
  9. Reviews plans of care to ensure nursing staff update and individualize to accurately reflect patient needs.
  10. Clinical Manager or designee will attend and coordinate IDT meetings weekly and ensures collaboration of all disciplines.
  11. Work closely with (IPU) Coordinator, acting as a resource for staff with questions, concerns or problems.
  12. Monitors completion of corrections to documentation requested by Compliance and (IPU)
  13. Identifies any real or potential problems and ensuring all identified risks to patient's staff or family are reported to the Director of Inpatient Services in a timely manner.
  14. Monitors the reporting of incidents, accidents and infections and participates in implementing corrective action.
  15. Observes and promotes all organizational and professional guidelines regarding infection control.
  16. Participates in the interview and selection process for IPU staff.
  17. Assigns and oversees students' clinical participation with IPU staff to ensure it is educational without being disruptive to patient care.
  18. Develops and maintains the inpatient orientation program for new staff and monitors new staff's progress.
  19. Communicates frequently with new clinical staff and their assigned preceptor throughout the orientation period to ensure work assignments focus on the employee's skill level and that the identified goals are met during the orientation period.
  20. Oversees the monthly nurse and aide staff scheduling.
  21. Reconciles staff time clock punches regularly with schedule to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  22. Identifies potential overtime and ensures staffing is developed daily in the most cost efficient manner to meet patient needs.
  23. Conducts performance evaluations for clinical nursing staff, identifying areas of excellence, opportunities for improvement, further training needed and goals.
  24. Ensures nursing staff evaluations, competencies, education, TB fit tests, TB tests, CPR, license and flu shots are completed within policy and guidelines of the organization.
  25. Demonstrates compassion, empathy, and patience when interacting with patients, families, co-workers, and members of the public.
  26. Represents Circle of Life to the community in a positive manner.
  27. Demonstrates flexibility, versatility and a positive attitude in integrating additional duties.
  28. Performs other duties as assigned.
