Circuit Avenue is a small but fast-growing real estate investment and property management company based in Detroit. We focus on addressing the affordable housing crisis in the United States by transforming overlooked properties into quality affordable housing. Our mission is to buy, renovate, and rent these homes as long-term affordable housing, and we are expanding our portfolio across the Midwestern United States. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Controller to join our team. The Controller will be responsible for the comprehensive management of our financial operations, including financial reporting, month-end close processes, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, accounts payable, payroll management, and annual audits. This role requires strong leadership and collaboration skills, as the Controller will report directly to the CEO and work closely with other professionals in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and oversee all financial reporting activities, ensuring accuracy and meeting business needs as well as investor and lender requirements
• Month-End Close: Manage the month-end close process, including the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
• General Ledger: Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately and timely recorded
• Account Reconciliations: Perform regular reconciliations of accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Accounts Payable & Payroll: Oversee accounts payable processes and payroll management, ensuring timely and accurate payments
• Annual Audits: Handle annual audits, working closely with external auditors and the outside CPA firm to ensure compliance
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the CEO and other team members to support the company’s financial and strategic goals

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification is strongly preferred
• Experience: 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Proactive approach and positive mindset; Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment; Strong leadership and team management skills
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
