Position Title: Recycled Material Sorter/General Laborer
Department: Operations
Work Location: Onsite at assigned Circulus Plant Location
Reports To: Shift Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary :

The Recycled Material Sorter is responsible for safely and efficiently sorting incoming recycled materials, keeping manufacturing areas and plant floor free of debris and/or waste products, and for keeping the outdoor manufacturing environment clean.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Replaces trash recycling carts containers neatly.
  • Assists in unloading or cleaning truck clean up waste spills and overflows.
  • Provides waste or recycling collection services.
  • Follows all required safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Understands, follows, and enforces all established safety, health, quality, and good manufacturing practices policies and procedures.
  • Sort bales of recyclable materials and separate materials as instructed by supervisor.
  • Inspect loads for improper materials/ waste and remove.
  • Maintain a clean work environment by helping to sweep floors and keeping the outdoor plant environment clean when requested by supervisor.
  • Replace trash recycling carts containers neatly.
  • Able to work extended hours (12-hour shift), days or nights, and on holidays.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor or as apparent.

Experience and Qualifications :

  • No prior experience or training.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be a dependable, self-motivated individual
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Well organized with a focused attention on detail.
  • Demonstrate good attendance with the ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Must be eligible for work in the United States.
  • Must have reliable transportation to work.

Work Environment, Schedule, and Physical Demands :

The work environment is on the plant floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and we do expect employees and visitors to wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) including hearing protection while on the plant floor.

We are a 24/7 process operation. The work schedule for this position is dictated by the need to manage and react to issues on the shifts. The planned schedule for this position is:

  • There will be moderate lifting, (up to 50 pounds), standing and walking for several hours at a time.
  • Frequently required to: stand, climb stairs, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl; work near moving mechanical parts; work around fumes/airborne particles; work in high, precarious places; exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather); exposure to outside weather conditions.
  • Continually required to: talk or hear; utilize hand and finger dexterity; utilize close and distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
