Circus Center is Hiring a Production Stage Manager Near San Francisco, CA

Circus Center is seeking a Production Stage Manager for an original show created and performed this summer by the San Francisco Youth Circus, our premiere performance troupe. The 11-member cast begins show creation on June 10 under the direction of our Artistic Director Juliana Neves. Technical rehearsals take place July 6 & 7, dress rehearsal is July 11, and the show will be performed 4 times July 12-14, 2024.

The Production Stage Manager will work with designers, the technical crew, and the management team to run the show and make sure all elements are completed safely, on time, and on budget. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate & lead Production Meetings
  • Manage budget, spend money, and collect necessary receipts and reconcile expenditures
  • Develop schedule for each production - production meetings, auditions, rehearsals, designer runs, paper tech, load-in, Q2Q, tech, performances, strike
  • Hire & contract all necessary production staff and professional talent
  • Organize load-in and load-out teams
  • Arrange photo shoots
  • Collect any necessary information for digital programs
  • Creating and distributing rehearsal reports, production meeting notes and performance reports
  • Creating a thorough cue sheet and calling cues for all performances
  • Helping Director to set up rehearsal space
  • Set up for performances
  • Take attendance for rehearsals and performances, contact missing cast members
  • Assist with strike nightly during performance and at the end of the run
  • Ensure payment of all production staff and professional talent; reimburse designers as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

This position is an independent contractor role, compensated at an hourly rate of $30. We estimate 100 hours for this position.
