As a Senior Reporting (SEC) Manager at Cirkul, you will be joining the team on the ground floor as we prepare for a potential IPO! This is a rare opportunity to build out the company’s registration statement and historical quarterly reports. You will be working with leaders across the organization in an environment that rewards hard work and collaboration with lots of room for upward mobility. This role is onsite in our Tampa, FL office working with a great finance team. What does an average day look like?
Driving Results
Build effective Excel workbooks, system reports and reporting processes to optimize efficiency
Draft a listing of key controls with standardized elements and documentation where applicable
Interface with auditors and others to assure filings align with requirements and documentation as well as support are easily understood
Continuously monitor and analyze changes the Company’s business as well as external developments and guidance changes that may impact the Company’s statements and disclosures
Taking Ownership
Develop aggressive but achievable project plans to support the Company’s timelines
Ready to roll up sleeves with a chance to lead without authority and manage a team in the future
Making Decisions
Leverage experience with SEC filings including building up financial statements and footnotes
Translate core goals and project objectives into activities, escalating as necessary but with minimal supervision to deliver high quality work product
Develop structured processes and related documentation to train future team members as well as accounting and other personnel supporting the filings
Cultivating Relationships
Provide expectations of information needs and deadlines to those supporting your duties while understanding and being respectful of competing priorities
Instilling Trust
Quickly build an understanding of the Company’s business, key processes and systems
Work with accounting and other business partners to build an understanding of accounting, systems and data and how to best bring it into filings
Customer Focus
Comfortably and effectively communicate with a wide range of business partners as well as across levels, including senior leadership
What background should you have?
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field; CPA recommended but not required
Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC accounting and reporting requirements
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in a public company and/or public accounting firm
Ideal candidate would have leadership experience in a role at a public company’s SEC team and potentially some public-accounting SEC experience (not critical to have both)
Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements
Experience with DFIN Active Disclosure and/or Workiva’s reporting/filing software
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Highly independent
Ability to manage and develop a team of professionals in the future
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong Excel required
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and completeness
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
