The Streets Division is responsible for the maintenance of over 285 miles of roadway, including: street sweeping more than 4,000 miles annually, 75,000 lbs. of crack sealing annually, more than 60,000 miles of plowing and deicing for snow and ice control annually, and more!
The Streets Division is currently looking for Full-time Streets Technicians at level I, II, or III (depending on qualifications/experience). Please see the Minimum Qualifications section below detailing the training/experience required.

Technician I Salary Range: $19.18 - $25.94/hour
Technician II Salary Range: $22.52 - $30.46/hour
Technician III Salary Range: $27.94 - $37.80/hour
The Position
The current openings focus in Streets Maintenance. Main duties include: patching and overlay; right-of way maintenance; street sweeping; drainage open channel maintenance; alley repairs; debris and trash removal; weed eradication; inspections of contractor work; and plowing and sanding. Grades dirt roads and road shoulders. Patches potholes and street cuts with asphalt hot mix. Performs street overlay and crack-seal operations. Makes concrete repairs on curbs, gutters, and drainage structures.
Technician II/III may be responsible for a specific program such as the crack seal program or sweeping program, asphalt patching program, and will lead other employees in those operations.
Positions operate construction and maintenance equipment such as pick-up trucks, tractors, loaders, skid steer, rollers, dump trucks, backhoe, street sweepers, paint striper, snow blowers, shovels, pickaxe, jackhammer, air compressor, post pounder, sledge hammer, asphalt rakes, and hand tools.
All Streets employees serve as part of the Snow Plow team by plowing snow and applying de-icer to streets.
Duties require a full range of physical motion to perform manual labor, including heavy lifting and digging, for extended periods of time under all weather conditions. Physical demands are described as Very Heavy (Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Ideal Candidate
High school graduate (or equivalent)
Skilled in critical thinking and the ability to problem solve
Able and willing to work on-call duty which requires working weekends on a rotating basis and working all hours during emergency repairs as needed

Experience
Technician I: No experience required
Technician II: At least 2 years of experience in street maintenance. Experience in street cleaning/drainage maintenance preferred. Some lead experience is preferred.
Technician III: At least 3 years of experience in street maintenance. Experience in street cleaning/drainage maintenance preferred. Some lead experience is preferred.
Certifications & Other Requirements
All Positions:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record for continued employment.
The successful candidate must pass all pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes including interview, reference checks, background checks including police check and sex-offender registry check, driving record check through DMV, pre-employment physical, substance abuse screening test and background check required by DOT regulations.
Please note, these positions will be subject to random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident alcohol and substance abuse testing as required by law
Technician I and II:
Must obtain a Flagger’s Certification within six months of employment.
Within six months of employment date, the successful candidate must obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s license Class B with air brake and tanker endorsement (must be maintained for continued employment)
Technician III:
Must obtain a Flaggers certification within six months of employment.
Within six months of employment date, the successful candidate must obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s license Class A with air brake and tanker endorsement (must be maintained for continued employment)
