PURPOSE:

Functions as part of a therapeutic team providing support in a rehabilitative program to individuals residing in a Transitional Living Program and/or Emergency Youth Shelter Program. Assist with maintaining a therapeutic environment that promotes fairness, safety, and hope. . Provides guidance and direction to individuals to aid in successfully achieving their goals; to teach/model/coach and support individuals toward the attainment of being safe and assisting them in meeting their basic physiological, safety, and love and belonging needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS-JOB DUTIES:

1. Program Staffing

The Residential Advisor position is a member of the program staff who will work within the team to provide continued guidance, support, and programming to the residents.

Such activities include:

• Review facility logs, discuss operational issues with staff, or supervise program activities.
• Review non-case specific e-mail or other correspondence.
• Review and completion of communication/shift change logs.
• Complete time cards and expense reports
• Complete daily checklists

1. Maintain physical site:

The Resident Advisor will work daily with the residents will participate in activities through the physical location.

Such activities include:

• Reporting any maintenance issues through a written form to the Health and Safety Staff or Adolescent Program Specialist.

1. Training:

The Resident Advisor will participate in training and development as required by licensing standards and program requirements.

Such activities include:

• Supervision (As recipient)
• Crisis Counseling/Intervention
• Training - time engaged in or preparing for training, either as a trainer of other employees, or as a trainee

1. Program needs:

The Resident Advisor will ensure the care and well-being of each youth at the components of the Adolescent Programs., daily evaluate staff interactions with youth, mentoring, encouraging, and correcting staff so that a positive environment is maintained.

Such Activities include:

• Routine daily supervision of youth;
• Supervision of youth during the course of the school day or during the course of extra-curricular activities;
• Administering medications;
• Routine administration of first aid to the youth;
• Documentation: Progress Notes/paperwork pertaining to child’s/youth’s daily activities, including incident reports
• Crisis Counseling/Intervention
• Become familiar with safety, security, and emergency procedures of the facility
• All other duties as assigned by the Resident Advisor Supervisor or the Adolescent Program Specialist.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENT: Specific Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:The Resident Advisor shall have a high school diploma or general education development certificate

CPR/1st Aid Certification (company will provide training)

• ESSENTIAL JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE:Ability for form and inform relationships;

Ability to comprehend and follow rules/guidelines;
Ability to enforce program specific rules

• PREFERRED JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience working with youth in a residential settings
  Microsoft 365 Suite
  Basic Computer Knowledge

• ORIENTATION:Complete both online and in person training

• YEARLY TRAINING:

40 hours mandated by OCYF

• ADDITIONAL MANDATORY ANNUAL TRAINING:PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting
  Becoming Trauma Aware
  Project Starfish
  Safe Crisis Management
  PA Medication Administration

• CLEARANCES: National Sex Offender Registry (Completed every 5 years)
  FBI Clearance: (Completed every 3 years)
  PA State Police Background: (Completed every 3 years)
  PA Child Abuse Clearance (Completed every 3 years)
  Physical and TB Test (Completed Every two years)

• ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule.

MISCELLANEOUS:Each member of the Organization’s workforce may only access the minimum information that is necessary to perform that workforce member’s particular job functions. Due to the nature of the Organization’s Shelter and Independent Living Programs, workforce members will have access to all resident charts in the program where they are employed. Supervisors will have access to all records in the CRR programs for on-call purposes only.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This also includes snow removal and helping residents move.
