Purpose: Residential staff is responsible for the operation of the City Mission’s Shelter programs to ensure that a safe, healthy, and homelike atmosphere is maintained conducive to the needs of men (MS).

Essential Functions – Job Duties: The following duties are considered essential to the job.

Qualified applicants must have the ability to perform the following duties.

1. Conduct preliminary intake interviews with clients who arrive at the shelter during your shift. (Primary shifts for relief workers are Monday thru Sunday at 5 PM to 9 AM the following morning. Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM.) You may be scheduled for any shift on a holiday. Please note all relief hours are dependent upon population at the shelter. On-call Rotation
   Work Schedule will be 2 days the next week 5pm-9am.

1. Familiarize the clients with the rules and surroundings of the shelter. Ensure that their needs are met for food, clothing, blankets, towels, and personal hygiene needs.

1. Maintain the general upkeep of the shelter through the enforcement of house rules.

1. Carry out designated chores, both inside and outside, to assist with the upkeep of the

 shelter.

1. Assist and manage any emergency situation that may arise.

1. Document daily information pertinent to clients in the daily logbook.
2. Record unusual incidents on the required form.
3. Report to the Emergency Shelter Supervisor any problems or concerns that way arise while in the facility.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENT:

 Specific Education, certification, and/or Licensure:

 High School Diploma or GED

 Act 33, 34, and FBI Fingerprint Clearances

1. ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:

One (1) year of experience working with people in residential settings.

Related knowledge of the human service field.

1. PREFERRED JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:

 One (1) year of experience working with the homeless population.

1. Rate of pay is determined by education/experience. Hours are set by supervisor.
