GENERAL DESCRIPTIONUnder direction of the Director of Information Technology (IT) Department, the Supervisor - Technology - Applications leads and is directly responsible for the IT Application Services Division employees, resources, processes, actions and outcomes related to the Application Team within the department. Coordinate activities and changes closely with Departments and business users for changes to software, security, and back up processes. Manage application life cycles, cost analysis, forecasting and optimizing the allocation of resources.SUPERVISION EXERCISEDExercises supervision over Information Technology Applications Services staff.Supervises and provides leadership for the Application Services team. This involves setting performance expectations, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring that the team is working effectively and efficiently. Works with the Applications Services team, offering leadership, mentorship, and guidance to promote a culture of collaboration and enhance team productivity.Supervises the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's application systems. This includes overseeing the work on software and program components and that they are properly configured, secured, and maintained.Supervision is exercised over the development and maintenance of disaster recovery and business continuity plans. The Supervisor – Technology – Applications ensures that these plans are in place and periodically tested, and that the responsible staff are aware of their roles in these plans.IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIESOversee the entire application lifecycle, from initial planning and development through deployment, maintenance, and eventual retirement or replacement.Oversees the schedules and projects assigned to application services staff.Monitor the performance of applications, ensuring they meet performance standards and service level agreements.Establishes and enforces team processes and procedures related to the successful maintenance and troubleshooting operations of critical business applications.Provides guidance and consultation on applications and related services to other departments, which may include reviewing system documentation, feasibility, design, testing, and implementation.Ensure documentation is maintained on applications, including configurations, licensing, and user guides.Manage third-party vendor relationships, and ensure vendors provide the necessary support and services.Work with end-users and support teams to address user issues, troubleshoot problems, and ensure applications meet user requirements.Coordinates the resources needed to meet business objectives related to software applications.Identifies requirements, establishing good communication and coordination to understand service requirements.Plan, develop, and conduct technical training programs, activities, and meetings.Set and achieve specific, measurable, actionable, relevant and time-bound performance and productivity goals in the assigned functional area, track and report progress.Budgeting and financial management related to the application portfolio.Keep senior management informed by preparing reports on system performance and problems.Assist in the recruiting, hiring, on-boarding, and training of new employees.OTHER JOB RELATED DUTIESPerform other job related duties and responsibilities as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledge of:Administration and maintenance of applications.Programming concepts and procedures applied in the software development life cycle.Data management and storage principles to ensure data integrity, availability, and security.Familiarity with web servers and their role in serving web content to include connections to SQL databases.Advanced leadership and team building concepts.Leadership principles and the ability to motivate and guide IT teams, promoting collaboration and productivity.Security principles, data protection, compliance standards, and experience in implementing security measures.Familiarity with project management methodologies, tools, and practices for planning and executing IT projects effectively.In-depth system troubleshooting approaches and procedures.Awareness of current and emerging technology trends.Change management principles for minimizing disruptions during system updates and migrations Financial concepts and budgeting to manage the costs associated with the application portfolio.Managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts and performance, and collaborating with various stakeholders across the organization.Principles and processes for providing outstanding customer service. Any combination equivalent to experience and training to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying.
