The City of Anaheim is offering an outstanding and exciting Management Fellowship that provides individuals with graduate degrees the opportunity to explore a range of career paths within municipal government. Assigned to various City departments for a specific period of time, the Management Fellow's responsibilities include direct involvement in substantive day-to-day operations, as well as special project assignments requiring research and analysis. The current fellowship will be in the City Manager's Office.

The Purpose of the Program: To develop candidates for entry-level management positions within municipal government; provide opportunities to gain a broad range of experience in local government; and to support the development of analytical, leadership and other managerial skills.
Rotational Assignments: The typical Fellow may have one or more rotations within the various City Departments depending on need and availability. The current fellowship will begin in the City Manager's Office. The term of the Internship is 12 to 18 months.
Professional Development Training: The City provides numerous training opportunities and encourages all employees to continuously develop their professional skills. Management Fellows have the opportunity to build valuable professional relationships with current and former fellows and all levels of management. The program can lead to both internal and external career advancement.
The ideal candidate is a high-energy, self-starter who will:
- Research, develop and monitor budgets.
- Research and analyze City operations and/or programs.
- Interact with elected officials and work directly with senior management on special projects.
- Prepare staff reports and presentations for City Council meetings, upper management meetings, and community workshops.
This position requires:
- A Master's degree (or within six months of completion) in fields such as: Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Law, Public Administration, Public Policy or other related field.
- Some research, administrative support, or analytical experience is desirable, preferably in public administration.
- Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license is required.
