MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Knowledge of chemical and biological laboratory procedures.
• Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and maintenance.
• Skill in communicating with other city employees and the public by oral and written means.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound.
• Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including, but not limited to seeing, sorting, holding, carrying, squatting, and writing.
• Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to operate a variety of equipment including but not limited to PC, pH meter, burets, spectrophotometer, and other lab instruments.
• Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Ability to keep accurate detailed records and organize workload effectively.
• Ability to distinguish colors.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other city employees and the public.
• Ability to respond as necessary to emergency situations requiring immediate sampling and analysis of unknown materials.
• Incumbent is subject to dust/mites, fume/odor, chemical, mechanical, electrical, radiation, explosives and biological hazards.

Qualifying Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or a GED is required. TCEQ Class D Water License is required within first 6 months of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of the following: Criminal Background Check, Drug and Alcohol Testing, Physical Examination, and Motor Vehicle Review.
