Job DescriptionPosition posted until filledGeneral Description And Classification StandardsAs a seasoned employee, the Employee Relations Specialist, Senior provides advice and concultation to HR business partners and operating units in the area of labor and employee relations. Supervision Received Under the leadership of the Employee Relations Director.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThese are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. May perform other duties as assigned. Works with HR partners, managers and employees to diagnose and resolve employee issues in a manner consistent with policies, City Code, state and federal law. Conducts investigations, report findings, counsels HR and management partners on subsequent actions. Servies as an impartial third-party to receive employee complaints and grievances outside of the normal chain of command. Supports the Director in advising managers and HR partners on the administration of MOU's with unions, and actively participates in maintaining a positive and collaborative relationship with unions. Coordinates ethics hotline investigations and responses to EEOC charges: registering complaints; collecting information; conducting investigations as needed; peparing response Collarborates proactively with HR partners to drive positive emplyee relations climate at all City of Atlanta locations, identifying opportunities fro improvement and partnering with HR partners in the implementation of improvements. Develops and delivers training on a range of topics in support of Employee Relations and Diversity & Inclusion programs-discrimination/harassment prevention; performance mangement; communication; conflict resolution; and other modules geared toward proactively improving relationships between employees.
Decision-Making Leadership Provided May provide direction to Employee Relations Specialist. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully. It is not an exhaustive list. In-depth knowledge of laws, satutes and regulations relevant to the effective handling of complex employment issues; Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills Effective analytical, problem resolution, influencing, critical thinking and decision-making skills Ability to conduct investigations involving employee misconduct, employee complaints and grievances, and labor issues. Ability to analyze facts and prepare clear, concise and accurate reports
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field Five (5) or more years experience providing consultation to managers and/or supervisors on appropriate interpretation of organizational policy and procedures in the areas of employee/management relations. Preferred Education & Experience Licensures and Certifications
