City of Baltimore is Hiring an Accounting Systems Analyst - Department of Finance Near Baltimore, MD

OPENING DATE: 03/25/2024CLOSING DATE: 06/26/2024 AT 12:00 MIDNIGHTSALARY: $68,289.00 - $109,521.00 ANNUALLYEDUCATION ACCREDITATION: Applicants education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.
ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.
PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.
Class DescriptionAn Accounting Systems Analyst analyzes a variety of accounting systems. The work of this class involves no supervisory responsibilities.
Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office where working conditions are normal. Work requires minimal physical exertion.
SELECTION PROCESSAll candidates indicating the minimum qualifications on their application will be placed on the eligible list without further examination. The license, training, and experience of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity. It is essential, therefore, that you give complete and accurate information on your application. Vagueness or omission may prevent you from being considered for the position. Qualified candidates will not be listed in rank order.
Minimum QualificationsOn or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:EDUCATION: Have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
ANDEXPERIENCE: Have five years of experience in performing accounting work.
ORNOTE (EQUIVALENCIES): Have an equivalent combination of education and experience Including 30 credits in accounting and business law and 6 additional credits in statistics or data processing. Two years of experience
performing accounting systems analysis work may be substituted for the five years of experience in performing accounting work.
Required Knowledges, Skills And Abilities
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of the principles and procedures used in the maintenance, development and implementation of accounting systems, methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of methods and procedures analysis, data processing and records and forms management as they apply to accounting.
  • Knowledge of auditing procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to perform accounting systems analysis.
  • Ability to resolve accounting problems and to give technical accounting advice and assistance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with work associates and City agency representatives.
  • Ability to present clear, concise oral and written reports of findings and recommendations.
