Maintains the entrance gate at the Baytown Nature Center, collects fees, answers questions. Opens and closes the park daily.
Duties
- Provides visitor service including collecting entrance fees, answering questions, and enforcing rules and regulations.
- Opens and closes the gate at the posted hours. Drives through the park (30 minutes before closing to notify visitors that the park is closing).
- Collect fees for daily entrance, individual permits and annual vehicle permits. Records survey data on entry of each vehicle.
- Makes daily deposits of cash receipts.
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Valid Texas driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Previous customer service experience and ability to communicate effectively.
- Bilingual - Spanish.
Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work overtime. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain to perform needed services.

The first of these was Goose Creek, named for the bayou of the same name where Canada geese wintered and whose name is still reflected in the area's Goose Creek CISD, whose establishment dates back to before 1850. With the discovery of the Goose Creek Oil Field, the neighboring communities of Pelly in the late 1910s, and East Baytown in the early 1920s, developed as early boomtowns. Serious talk of mergi...ng the three cities began shortly after World War I, but the community of Baytown was opposed to this idea. However, in 1947, the three cities finally agreed to consolidate. The citizens settled on the name Baytown for the new combined city. Baytown as it is known today was officially founded January 24, 1948.
