City Of Beaumont is Hiring a Project Planner Near Beaumont, TX

Essential Job Functions:  Assists Facilities Maintenance Project Coordinator with the management functions of planning, organizing, staffing, controlling, and directing the daily activities performed by personnel assigned to Facilities Maintenance; supervises and evaluates work performed by a draftsman; responsible for performing short and long term planning that reduces the costs of maintenance operations; conducts feasibility and space analysis studies; designs, plans and participates in organizing and coordinating the sequence of the work process; prepares bid specification documents, simple lay-out sketches, and complex architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings; updates original drawings to reflect field changes and modifications made during construction; performs detailed labor-material cost estimating; conducts physical inventories of buildings, compiles reports and analyzes technical data; participates in project inspections; provides clarification on the plans and specification to potential contractors; attends and conducts pre-bid and pre-construction conferences; oversees contract administration, including processing of field changes and contract modifications; investigates customer complaints; determines manpower requirements; prepares job descriptions and organizational charts; identifies work to be performed and coordinates the budget and justifications, including total requirements for inclusion in general operating budgets, capital reserve and capital improvements budgets; analyzes cost performance against budgets; investigates deviations from budgets and work schedules to determine cause.
Other Job Functions: Performs other duties as required.
Works Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in a normal office environment; visits job sites during the design phase and the construction phase.

Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of administrative principals, practices and procedures of municipal government; thorough knowledge of contract administration; knowledge of building, fire, and safety codes; knowledge of principles, practices, techniques, terminology and instruments of architectural design and drafting; knowledge of materials, methods, tools and equipment used in maintenance and building construction trade.
Skills/Abilities: Skill in use of micro-computer; skill in use of CAD; skill in performing manual drafting work using various drafting instruments; must exhibit high degree of responsibility; ability to plan and design for short and long-range facility improvements; ability to read and interpret blueprints; ability to perform calculations required to estimate building maintenance and construction costs; ability to make complex decisions; ability to conceive and develop alternative designs; ability to compose reliable reports; ability to express ideas clearly in writing, orally, and graphically; ability to interact effectively with supervisor, co-workers, contractors, internal customers, and the public.
Physical Requirements: Constantly sees, hears, sits, writes, stands, walks, bends and climbs; frequently stoops.
Education/Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by college courses in drafting, architecture or landscape design. Bachelors degree in Architecture, Engineering or related field preferred. Minimum five (5) years working experience in administration in a supervisory capacity. Advanced knowledge and professional training in Facilities Management preferred.

Must possess a valid Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver's license. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
