Job Summary

Robinswood Tennis Center is Hiring for Summer Programs! We are hiring multiple Seasonal Tennis Instructor 1's to deliver classes and coaching for programs at Robinswood Tennis Center.

Role/Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the first level of a two-level Instructor series. At this level, the position works under limited supervision but has discretion to make decisions about the lesson plans, delivery of course/workshop materials and the general content of skill building and lesson/training plans. This role is distinguished from the Recreation Assistant classifications in that the focus of the job duties are on coaching, instructing or teaching versus the general support and facilitation of a parks, recreation or community services program.
Recreation Instructor 2 is the advanced level of this job series and is restricted to specific, defined instructor roles that require specialized and extensive experience and/or certification.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach, instruct, or coach participants; provide guidance and support to activity participants.
  • Lead, train and coordinate program activities, lesson plans, drills and/or skill development.
  • Supervise activity; maintain and secure class roster.
  • Oversee program/activity participants; provide instruction, direction and assistance as needed.
  • Ensure program/facility rules, policies and procedures are followed; maintain and enforce safety standards.
  • Collect data, maintain records, develop reports and assist program staff with other administrative support tasks.
  • Develop schedules, calendars and statistical information.
  • Ensure proper use, care, and storage of program equipment Assist with program and event registration; provide general front desk support.
  • Respond to community and participant inquiries; provide information about recreation programs, activities and services.
  • Assist with the promotion and communication of assigned program.
  • May work in more than one assignment in the department.
Supervision Received and Exercised:
  • Typically receives occasional or limited supervision but generally works within standard operating procedures.
  • May have lead responsibilities and will assign and oversee the work of assistant instructors, other staff and/or volunteers.
Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience in assigned activity or program or in the general recreation field
  • Previous experience coaching, leading or teaching groups preferred.
  • Or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • First Aid, CPR or similar certification or training may be required for some positions.
  • Appropriate certification, when applicable, may be required.
