In this role, you will weigh vehicles entering and leaving the transfer station; estimates volumes of small loads and assesses contents; collects established fees for dumping; provides information and directs customers; uses personal computers for data collection, computation, reconciliation, record keeping and reporting.

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to completion of high school and either three (3) years of solid waste collection and disposal experience, or three (3) years of general office or accounting support work experience. Prior experience in refuse collection and/or experience in handling of hazardous materials is desirable.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be bondable and able to work early morning, evening, holiday and weekend shifts in a dusty, windy environment without restrictions. Within a six (6) month probationary period must successfully complete four (4) weeks of full-time equivalent on-the-job training to prepare the employee to assume the full range of Weighmaster duties, as certified by senior supervisory staff. Successful completion of classes in Customer Service Dispute/Conflict Resolution is desirable.

Tests may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include, but are not necessarily limited to, typing, math, reading, writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency, or any other job-related knowledge, skill, ability or qualification. The examination process and dates are subject to change. The City may, without notice, change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate. Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews slated for tentatively week of August 5, 2024.
