Description

This position is responsible for assisting with the assembling, disassembling and maintenance of stages during theater productions. Reports directly to the Production Manager.

Examples of Duties

Other duties may be assigned

• Load and unload props, road cases and other materials from trucks
• Set up, dismantle and store risers, flats, musical equipment, microphones, lighting & props; Includes working with electrician and lighting assistants; Move scenery as necessary
• Construct & paint set pieces, move furniture and help carpenters build and install scenery
• Ensure props are set properly and stored after performances.
• Operate scenery-moving machinery, performance curtains, spotlights during shows and assist with video, sound, music and light production
• Disassemble scenery and set pieces, clean up stage and backstage area before, during & after shift
• Insure the safe and effective running of performances and assigned duties.

Typical Qualifications

• Ability to communicate with supervisor throughout the shift
• Ability to remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy activity
• Ability to make decisions and take action based on previous experience & judgment, revising procedures to accommodate unusual situations
• Ability to read and perform math skills necessary for following construction plans and measurements
• Knowledge of stage direction, operations & production
• Physical ability to lift & move stage props, risers and other equipment

Supplemental Information

High School Diploma or Equivalency; Preferred- 2 years minimum experience within the trade and entertainment industry performing duties as a stagehand and/or stage technician; Referent with IATSE Local 193

Must pass drug screening and background check

Pay: $18.45 - $22.55 per hour
