Entry-Level:
The incumbent will receive messages and citizen calls for police service and maintenance service in the Police Communications Center during an assigned shift.
Experienced:
This is full-performance technician work responsible for public safety communications in an emergency communications center. Incumbents are required to use radio, call taking, and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems along with other computer equipment to evaluate citizen requests for public safety service, dispatch appropriate emergency resources within assigned area and class capabilities, and track events to identified conclusion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
ENTRY-LEVEL:
• High school diploma or G.E.D.;
• One (1) year of responsible work experience;
• Ability to pass all required proficiency exams.
EXPERIENCED:• High school diploma or GED;
• Two (2) years of responsible work experience as a Public Safety Emergency Dispatcher.
OR• One (1) year experience as a Public Safety Emergency Dispatcher I plus one (1) year experience in an emergency medical services environment responding to highly stressed callers in need of public safety services, and have attained and maintained all related certifications, training, and program experience stipulated by agency.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Certified Maryland State National Crime Information Center (NCIC) CN2 training course;
• Certified American Heart Association (AHA) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/Basic Life Support (CPR/BLS) course for Health Care Providers;
• Completed the Practical and Academic Public Safety Dispatcher I/II training program.

RATE: Up to $25.07 per hour ($52,154 annually), depending on qualifications
