City of Boynton Beach is Hiring an Utilities Field Coordinator Near Seacrest, FL

JOB
The purpose of this classification is to supervise team leaders or workers in the maintenance of utility infrastructure and maintenance of projects for utility wastewater collection, pumping stations, and distribution systems, storm water projects and related infrastructure. Prioritizes and assigns work as necessary to complete projects assigned from Division Superintendent.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. Other duties may be required and assigned. Schedules employees, assigns work and monitors its progress. Guides and develops employees in the accomplishment of their duties.Coordinates operations involving delivery of water, wastewater and storm water services to the city's customers, including the functioning of piping and mechanical equipment.Trains subordinates in departmental operations and work performed; demonstrates proper work methods and procedures; familiarizes them with work area, location of supplies, and departmental policies; and trains them in technical aspects of work functions.Coordinates cross-training of field crew; collaborates with other supervisors to develop schedules for interchange of staff between divisions.Investigates and coordinates responses to citizen concerns.Conducts on-site inspection of assignments/projects to ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety policies and procedures, including OSHA safety regulations; oversees set up of safe work zone and ensures safety of all persons on and around the work sites; supplies safety equipment and gear; enforces all safety policies, taking corrective action as necessary; sees that proper precautions are taken to avoid/minimize injury to employees or damage to property and equipment; and coordinates monthly safety meetings.Inspects assigned equipment regularly for operational safety; coordinates and assists in performing repair/replacement of malfunctioning or obsolete equipment.Oversees operation of all equipment and tools by assigned staff; instructs and trains personnel on the proper, efficient, and safe usage of equipment; supervises general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, checking/replacing fluids, greasing equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, and cleaning shop/work areas.Assists in planning of projects and departmental operations; calculates cost and effort necessary for job completion; assists with preparation of departmental budget and bid specifications for materials and equipment.Reads and interprets blueprints and as built drawings, instruction manuals, and operating guides.Collaborates with immediate supervisor to obtain instructions regarding work assignments; determines optimum methods of projects completion; organizes, prioritizes and assigns work orders to crews according to available resources and time.Oversees all activity at the work site, either directly or through subordinate crew leaders; ensures that projects proceed according to schedule, working to resolve delays and problems as needed; provides direction, guidance and technical assistance to crew/team members; and monitors status of work in progress.Monitors and maintains supplies, materials, and equipment used to perform essential tasks; ensures workers have sufficient supplies, materials, and equipment to complete tasks and to respond to requests for emergency repairs; oversees use of equipment; requisitions new supplies and parts to replenish stock.Inspects work sites for proper completion of assigned work; ensures all work conforms to standards for quality, cleanliness, and safety; takes corrective measures as needed; and evaluates completed work.Assists in developing and updating policies and procedures.Serves as departmental representative for all work falling within assigned area of responsibility; liaisons with personnel from other departments, agencies, or organizations for related matters; responds to inquiries and complaints from the public relating to services provided; and monitors the work of all contractors to ensure proper provision of services.Reviews and refers to accounting reports, policy manuals, handbooks, technical references, computer manuals, maps, work orders, and other documents and forms.Assists or participates in performing maintenance and repair work as necessary.Keeps Division Superintendent informed of all work performed and progress of tasks; reports all problems and concerns regarding staff, projects, equipment, facilities/property, or other items relating to work performed; completes all appropriate paperwork; complies with policies and procedures relating to reporting mechanisms and staffing issues.Participates in other departmental projects and activities as assigned and directed.

Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, toxic agents, disease, or pathogenic substances.
