Senior Pool Leader

JOB DESCRIPTION

The City of Brookhaven is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Pool Leader to oversee the smooth operation of our community pools during the summer season. As a Senior Pool Leader, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of patrons, coordinating pool activities, and maintaining facility standards. This position requires a commitment to excellence, strong leadership skills, and a passion for providing exceptional service to our community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage pool operations during the summer season, which runs from May 27th until September 30th, with weekends only starting August 3rd.
  • Must be available to start work with a minimum of 30 hours per week beginning May 27th.
  • Work at least one weekend shift per week (Saturday or Sunday) and be available for end-of-season shutdown activities from August 3rd until September 30th.
  • Ensure compliance with pool safety regulations and enforce swimming pool rules to maintain a safe environment for all patrons.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports as required by the Aquatics Department.
  • Conduct daily cash pickups for each pool site.
  • Maintain detailed records of all incidents and report them promptly to the Aquatics Supervisor.
  • Coordinate the preparation of private party rental calendars and summer camp schedules.
  • Train and supervise pool staff on proper opening and closing procedures.
  • Keep a daily maintenance log on chemical levels and equipment issues, including pumps, flow meters, and pulsars.
  • Monitor guest activity closely and ensure their safety at all times.
  • Conduct inspections of the Splash pad at Ashford Park twice a week to ensure proper functioning and cleanliness.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in lifeguarding or pool management.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred.
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience supervising staff.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required.
