PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to ensure all public facilities and grounds are operational and properly maintained.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-
inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Performs maintenance and repair activities in the areas of Lands and Buildings as assigned.
• Operates and repairs equipment and tools of the Division.
• Inspect HVAC and electrical systems for proper operation and repairs as needed.
• Inspect and repair minor plumbing problems.
• Inspect, repair or replace pumps, motors, valves, controls, and other mechanical equipment.
• Inspect and repair doors, windows, locks and other building related items and systems.
• Verify progress and/or completion of work performed by outside contractors.
• Performs typical landscaping duties – including but not limited to: cut and trim grass, water and fertilize

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school (or GED).
Ability to successfully pass an FBI/BCI background check and CJIS Certification.

Must possess a valid Ohio driver's license. Maybe required to possess a Commercial Driver's License.
Must have a minimum combination of five (5) years of trade school and/or work experience in M.E.P
(mechanical, electrical and plumbing) building maintenance, or similar fields.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of construction and building maintenance.
• Ability to read building electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and construction blueprints.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, building air flow and computer interfacing.
• Knowledge of tools and proper usage in building maintenance such as:

o Electrical meters and measuring devices

o Hand tools such as drills, grinders, saws, compression tools, sprayers
o Safety equipment, practices and principles
o Wood working equipment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force
frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, and some heavy work requiring
the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20
pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping,
standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions. Also
includes the necessity to communicate by talking, hearing/listening. Specific vision abilities required by
this job include close, distance and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus,
for operation of machines and equipment, determination accuracy and thoroughness of work, and
observation of general surroundings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The employee is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions including, extreme cold, extreme heat,
noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, dust/dirt, grease/oils, paint fumes, moving parts of machinery
and extreme weather conditions both hot and cold. Work is generally outdoors.
