Salary : $39,819.55 - $43,797.00 Annually Location : Charleston, SC Job Type: Full-Time Job Number: 202101433 Department: Stormwater Management Division: SW Mgmt System Maintenance Opening Date: 06/12/2024 Closing Date: Continuous FLSA: Non-Exempt Summary $500 BONUS $250 ON FIRST CHECK AND $250 AFTER 120-DAYS OF EMPLOYMENT We are looking for a Construction Crew Leader to join the City of Charleston's Stormwater Department! In this role, you will lead a crew to complete scheduled and unscheduled construction and maintenance projects on public property, streets, sidewalks, and rights-of-way. Examples of Duties
Supervises and leads a construction and maintenance crew.
Inspects work areas to determine type of work required and materials and equipment to be used.
Maintains all equipment and tools in good working condition.
Interprets job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
Maintains time and production records.
May operate motor equipment such as tractors, front-end loaders and dump trucks.
Performs other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City's needs.
