An Equipment Operator II is deemed an Alpha position so you must have the ability to work in any emergency situations due to weather or operational issues.
Must be available during inclement weather, mandatory standby duty, and overtime as needed.
Equipment Operator II requires a Class A CDL upon hire with added tanker endorsement within 1 year of hire and is subject to Random Drug / Alcohol Testing.
Some night work may also be required. Employees may be expected to work hours more than their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and / or City-wide emergencies.
Required Qualifications VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT :
Requires completion of 10th grade in high school. High school diploma, GED OR specialized vocational training is preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT :
In addition to satisfying the vocational / education standard, this class requires a minimum of six months of related, full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES :
Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with theA Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required.
Specialized certifications may be required based on department assigned.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS :
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to confined spaces.
Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and / or City-wide emergencies.
Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties. Preferred Qualifications A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A is required to be considered .
Applicant must obtain a tanker endorsement within 12 months of hire.
Basic knowledge of pipe repair techniques and maintenance is preferred.
