City of Concord is Hiring a Water Crew Supervisor - Wastewater Near Concord, NC
The purpose of this position is to supervise crews and the projects or actions related to the City’s sewer systems.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervises staff by prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained and follow policies and procedures, maintaining a healthy and safe working environment, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
- Oversees the installation and repairs of sewer pipe and appurtenances.
- Determines the means to clean debris from pipes and manholes.
- Ensures all equipment is being properly maintenance by staff and all safety procedures are followed.
- Ensures proper functions of City’s collection system by responding to any issues.
- Prepares and/or completes work orders and service requests.
- Performs other similar duties as required.
- Basic Electric Systems
- Landscaping
- Water meter installation
- Operating heavy equipment and hand and power tools
- Backflow Assembly operation and test procedures
- Wastewater system principles and practices
- Drainage system principles and practices
- Applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations
- Budgetary principles
- Water Treatment Facility principles and practices
- Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License
- North Carolina Grade III Wastewater Certification
- CPR and First Aid Certification
Working Conditions / Physical RequirementsPositions assigned to Wastewater Maintenance:
- Positions in this class require: Standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, handling, kneeling, crawling, pushing/pulling, climbing, vision, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, talking.
- Heavy Work: Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 25 -50 pounds frequently, or from 10 up to 20 pounds constantly.
- Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory fumes, noise and vibration, physical hazards.
- Supervisory principles
- Reading and interpreting data
- Managing construction and maintenance projects
- Basic surveying
- Performing basic mathematical calculations
- Prioritizing and assigning work
- Solving problems
- Operating a computer and applicable software applications;
- Applying local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
