CITY OF CUPERTINO is Hiring a Customer Service Attendant I Near Cupertino, CA

This recruitment is open until filled and subject to close at any time. 
The City of Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department is hiring Customer Service Attendants at the Senior Center. Shifts will include weekday mornings and afternoons. This is a Part-Time Temporary Non-Benefited Position (maximum 995 hours per fiscal year).
Definition: 
Under limited supervision, Customer Service Attendants provide information, assistance, and outstanding customer service to customers and the general public through communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who needs a consistent, year round part-time job. The position emphasizes customer service, problem-solving, and a strong sense of teamwork. Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to Senior Center members and guests
  • Process class registrations and memberships
  • Accept and account for money paid for programs
  • Answer phones and perform various clerical duties
  • Prepare simple reports and receipts
  • Responsible for general front desk cleanliness, maintenance, and rule enforcement
  • Attend monthly scheduled training and staff meetings
Knowledge of:
Basic principles of customer service, office procedures and methods, and Microsoft Office.
Ability to:
  • Use computer programs to check-in members and guests, register participants for classes, sign up new members, perform point of sale/cash register functions, run reports.
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • Must be responsible, alert, courteous, and punctual
  • Manage time effectively, show initiative, and work independently
  • Work and communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and patrons in a team setting
  • Explain and enforce pertinent city and department policies and procedures
  • Available to work weekends and evenings as needed
  • Provide own transportation to and from work
  • Must be able to lift or carry weight of 30 pounds or less
Education and Experience:
  • Must be a minimum of 16 years old and possess a valid American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certificate within 90 days of hire.
