Do you enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and making a positive impact on your community? The City of Durango is seeking a service-minded Parking Enforcement Technician to join our team! This role offers a unique opportunity to combine fresh air and exercise while contributing to the efficiency, organization, and safety of Durango.
Working under the general supervision of the Parking Operations Manager, you’ll perform a variety of duties to enforce the City’s parking ordinances and ensure the maintenance and operation of parking equipment.
You will coordinate with other City departments and outside agencies, prepare reports, and maintain parking data. On walking or vehicle patrol, you’ll act as the eyes and ears of the City.
You’ll observe sidewalks and roads for safety issues, report problems to the right department, and serving as a helpful ambassador to residents and visitors alike.
Essential Job Duties
What You’ll Do in This Role : Maintain & Operate Parking Equipment Keep parking meters and equipment in working condition, including parts replacement, installation, and troubleshooting.
Use technology to monitor parking activity and enforce City parking ordinances. Maintain the clean appearance of parking meters by removing stickers, signs, graffiti, etc.
Collect and maintain parking vacancy data; generate vacancy rate maps in conjunction with the Geographic Information System (GIS) Division.
Operate vehicle immobilization equipment and perform daily checks on abandoned and booted vehicles. Enforce Parking Ordinances Issue citations for parking violations Patrol designated areas to enforce parking restrictions and time limits.
Appear in Municipal Court to defend issuance of citations, as necessary. Prepare and maintain records and reports on violations and actions.
Communicate with other departments using a two-way radio, telephone, and email; contact central dispatch for criminal or civil violations.
Provide Excellent Customer Service Act as a City Ambassador, promoting a positive and welcoming environment while assisting residents and visitors.
Respond to citizen concerns and inquiries regarding parking regulations and equipment. Help report and resolve any safety hazards or maintenance issues encountered while on patrol.
Minimum Qualifications You Have : A high school diploma or GED. One year of experience in customer service, enforcement, or a related field.
Excellent customer services skills and the ability to effectively resolve public inquiries. Supplemental Information
