Starting Salary: $17.59 - $18.40 (depending on experience)

About this Position
The Police Records Specialist assists the general public and departmental employees with requests for copies of reports and records. They also direct customers at both the front counter and via mail and answer multiple telephone lines. They create basic police reports from customers and enter data into the appropriate computer software programs.
This position will work 7:30 to 3:30, with the possibility of 10-hour shifts after training.
Responsibilities

• Receive and process records requests from the public and other agencies
• Assist department personnel and the public in person, by mail, electronically, and via telephone
• Fulfill fingerprinting requests
• Complete data entry for reports, background records, arrests, and final preparation of Criminal Charges
• Maintain and update confidential files on reports
• Check pawn ticket items to the National Crime Information Center database
• Receive money for payment of various services and prepare daily reports for the same
• Maintain equipment and supplies utilized in the Records Unit area
• Sort, file, copy, and distribute departmental documents, including mail
• Review and merge all officer reports and impounds into the Records Management System
• Justify Daily Case Reports in the Incident Base Reporting (IBR) Software in LERMS

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 12-18 months of related experience and/or training
  
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Possess or obtain OLETS certification within one (1) year
• Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier

• Ability to interact with the public, law enforcement personnel, and other professionals courteously, patiently, and with a positive attitude
• Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
• Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drugand audio screenings
