MOS Code: IS (Coast Guard), 0261 (Marine Corps)
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, and two (2) years of experience using GIS systems for engineering drafting, surveying, cartography, photogrammetry, or two (2) years of general data processing or data management experience.
Licenses and Certificates: Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent issued by another state required at the time of appointment.
Special Requirements: Applicants for positions assigned to the Department of Information Technology Services must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) finger-print based background check within the first six months from hire and maintain CJIS eligibility. CJIS requirements are related to system access and the following list of convictions and/or deferred adjudications will result in failure of the CJIS background check and disqualification and termination from employment: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor convictions, an open arrest for any criminal offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and family violence convictions.
Under general supervision, provide technical support and ensure the proper functioning of geographical information systems and software applications and databases.
Collaborate with the facilities management team to provide technical support and data entry for geographical information systems and database management. Involves: Plan and organize operation of facilities information systems in coordination with the City’s Department of Information Technology Services (DoITS). Work with cross-functional teams to analyze data and provide insights to support decision-making related to facility maintenance & management operations.
Design and implement solutions for storing and organizing large datasets or spatial information related to facility maintenance & management activities. Involves: Configure and maintain geographical information and database management systems to meet the needs of Facilities Management. Create and maintain custom reports and visualizations using GIS data to support Facilities Management decision-making processes.
Ensure that GIS and other information systems comply with security and data privacy requirements. Involves: Develop and maintain training materials and train Facilities personnel using geographical information and database management systems. Develop and maintain system documentation, including user manuals and technical specifications. Conduct regular maintenance and updates to ensure the proper functioning of geographical information and database management systems.
