Description This position coordinates department utility billing and accounting operations and customer service management.
Job Domains - Oversees customer service operations ensure quality assurance.
- Duties require considerable tact and courtesy in public contact to resolve complaints and diffuse angry customers
- Coordinates utility billing operations; applies late fees to accounts; prepares delinquent list and forwards to Customer Service Representative; completes billing processes for all water utility accounts; reviews accounts and corrects errors prior to billing; uploads billing files to online system and to third-party billing services provider; adjusts accounts as warranted.
- Balances checks, cash, and credit card payments for utility employees; researches shortages and overages; posts journal entries to the accounting system upon validation; generates recap sheets for each batch and forwards to Finance Department for reconciliation; generates deposit tickets.
- Assists customers with account issues; accepts customer payments; assists customers with new and transfer accounts.
- Prepares service orders for utility accounts.
- Retrieves and distributes cash drawers to Customer Service Representatives.
- Develops customer payment plans.
- Performs the duties of the Utility Billing & Accounting Manager in his or her absence.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to a high school diploma.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
