Reporting to the Building Commissioner, the Head Clerk serves as the lead member of the clerical support team for the Building Department. The Head Clerk is responsible to know, and fill-in, the role of all other clerical team members. With minimal supervision, the Head Clerk shall perform complex clerical and transcription duties exercising independent judgement; advanced knowledge of the functions of the Department in accordance with standard office procedures; general supervision of clerical team member(s) of a lower grade; preparation and processing of complex documents, reports and statistical data; maintenance of the books, accounts receivable and processing of payments; interact with the public and members of other city departments; and other duties as assigned by the Building Commissioner and/or designee.
