ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $48,306.00 - 72,460.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)
ANNUAL ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $50,000.00 - 60,000.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)

Job Summary

Work related to the creation and maintenance of Geographic Information System (GIS) data including complex data models such as; geometric networks, utility networks and parcel fabrics. Creates, maintains, and manipulates geographic data, for analysis and decision-making using GIS software.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Performs research as necessary to perform data maintenance tasks.
  • Performs creation and maintenance of GIS data in versioned geodatabases, using techniques such as coordinate geometry, keyboard entry of tabular data, manual digitizing of maps, scanning or conversion of other sources of digital data.
  • Review existing or incoming data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality, or completeness of documentation.
  • Maintains data integrity of mapping system through QA/QC processes.
  • Maintains the associated Metadata
  • Designs and produces paper, PDF, or interactive portal maps and regulatory maps for city departmental projects; creates map books for customers.
  • Analyze GIS data to identify spatial relationships and/or display results of analyses, using maps, graphs, or tabular data.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and functionality.
  • Knowledge of complex data models such as the Utility Network or Geometric Network
  • Ability to create mapping standards and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret data and translate it to integrate with existing systems.
  • Proficiency in computer operations and standard systems.
  • Ability to conduct spatial analysis.
  • Knowledge of specialized software such as ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcFM, Survey123, ESRI Field Maps.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users.
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with GIS users, other city departments and staff, and outside agencies.

Required Qualifications

MINIMUM
PREFERRED
High School Diploma or GED and or functionally related licenses or certificates
Bachelor's degree in Geography, computer science or related field from an accredited college or university

Experience Requirements

  • Two to three years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
