Job Summary

The Director, Technology is a strategic leader responsible for driving enterprise-wide IT initiatives, including ITIL Service Management, Portfolio Management Office, Enterprise Governance of technology, and device management. This role aligns technology with organizational goals to foster innovation, efficiency, and simplicity. The Technology Director oversees the service desk, business relationship management, ITIL, ADKAR, and Cobit practices, manages large-scale portfolios, leads high-performing teams, and champions change, fostering a culture of innovation and operational excellence. With a focus on continuous improvement, this leader partners with various departments, manages financial planning, and ensures governance and compliance. Key skills include strategic vision, technical proficiency, organizational change management, portfolio & project management, and exceptional communication abilities.

The ideal candidate will bring proficiency and a proven background in technology's best practices. Recent reorganization within the City IT department invites a capable Director with experience in organizational change management as well as portfolio and project management. Experience requirements are eight or more years of progressively responsible experience, including a minimum of five years in leadership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage large-scale IT projects from conception to implementation, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Utilize best practices in project management to drive results and resourcefulness.

Performance Management:

  • Lead high-performing IT teams, aligning diverse talent and ensuring accountability.
  • Build effective teams by valuing differences and developing talent.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team performance and project success.

Change Leadership:

  • Act as a change agent, facilitating technology adoption and fostering a culture of innovation and a growth mindset.

Required Qualifications

Minimum

College degree or equivalent work experience. Some positions may require functionally related certification or advanced degrees.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Technology Management, or a related field. Master’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Technology Management, or a related field.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of eight years of IT experience, including enterprise services management, complex project leadership, and demonstrated experience in managing diverse IT teams.
