JOB SUMMARY This part time position is responsible for the groundskeeping and maintenance of the recreation grounds and/or facilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Performs landscaping duties to include, mowing, trimming, edging, weed eating, fertilizing, and spraying of recreation facilities.
- Performs basic maintenance duties such as replacing light bulbs, cleaning fixtures, and replacing air conditioning and heating unit filters.
- Performs maintenance duties to include electrical, plumbing, painting, and carpentry work.
- Measures, lines, and maintains sports fields while ensuring they are within league specifications.
- Operates equipment to groom baseball fields.
- Maintain baseball, soccer, and football fields.
- Maintains equipment used for grounds and field maintenance.
- Reports major problems to supervisors.
- Serves as back up to co-workers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Must be enrolled in high school, high school diploma or equivalent preferred;
- 16 years of age, preferred;
- Must be able to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends, and special events when applicable;
- Previous maintenance and/or groundskeeping experience, preferred;
- Valid South Carolina Driver's License, preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES - Knowledge of groundskeeping.
- Knowledge of safety practices involved in groundskeeping.
- Knowledge of field grooming and maintenance.
- Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting.
- Ability to operate various power tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to multitask.
WORK ENVIRONMENT The work is typically performed outdoors with constant exposure to noise, dirt, grease, irritating chemicals, insects, and inclement weather. Employee exposed to a variety of maintenance equipment, chemicals, and weather.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 30 pounds of force of force to move objects and the following physical abilities: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
MENTAL DEMANDS Frequently requires working closely with others as part of a team, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, and frequent change of tasks. Occasionally requires time pressures, tedious or exacting work, noisy/distracting environment and irregular schedule/overtime.
