About the Position:
The City of Grand Junction seeks an experienced Assistant City Attorney to perform various legal duties. These include representing the City in litigation, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and providing legal advice and assistance to the City Council and multiple departments and lines of business while supporting the City Attorney to ensure comprehensive legal coverage for the City. This role requires solid legal research abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to build effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to effectively supporting the City's legal needs.
About the City Attorney's Office:The City Attorney's Office provides comprehensive legal support to the City Council, staff, and various boards and commissions to benefit the citizens of Grand Junction. The City Attorney attends all City Council meetings, drafts ordinances and resolutions, and advises key bodies such as the Planning Commission, Board of Appeals, and Liquor Licensing Board. The office is also responsible for reviewing contracts and offering daily legal opinions on personnel, land use, property acquisition, finance, and other municipal law issues. This collaborative and dynamic office is critical in ensuring the City operates within legal parameters while advancing its strategic objectives.
