About the Position:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Wastewater Operations Supervisor to join our team. As the Wastewater Operations Supervisor, you will oversee the 24/7/365 operational activities of our wastewater treatment facility. Your expertise and leadership will ensure the efficient and safe operation of the facility while complying with regulatory standards and guidelines. About the City of Grand Junction Wastewater Services Division:
The wastewater division at the City of Grand Junction is responsible for managing and treating the city's wastewater. The Persigo wastewater treatment plant is the largest treatment works in the western Rocky Mountain region, with a capacity of 12.5 million gallons per day (mgd). This facility uses advanced technologies such as biotrickling filters for odor control, primary clarifiers, aeration basins, anaerobic digesters, UV disinfection, and an effluent diffuser to treat wastewater to a high standard.

Duties

What You'll Do:

  • Supervise a team of plant operators and provide guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Coordinate and prioritize operational activities to ensure optimal efficiency while meeting all treatment objectives.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and systems to identify maintenance needs and address them promptly.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose treatment process upsets and develop effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, standards, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of operational activities and operator log.
  • Fulfill the role of Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) and prepare and submit regulatory reports and notifications.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments, emerging technologies, and best practices in wastewater plant operations.

Qualifications

This position is a safety-sensitive position, which means you will be subject to random drug screens due to the nature of the work performed.
What We're Looking For:

  • Four (4) years of experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. supplemented by specialized training in wastewater treatment, biology, chemistry or a related field.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver's license.
    Possession of a valid Class A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certificate issued by the State of Colorado.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
