Compensation and Benefits:

The Full Salary Range for this position is $37,807.00 - $67,655.00 Annually. The Hiring Range is $37,807.00 - $49,746.00 Annually depending on qualifications, with an excellent benefits package. Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:

The Maintenance Mechanic I will repair, renovate, install, construct and maintain general and mechanical maintenance on equipment and buildings within the City of Greensboro facilities. The position requires having general knowledge of buildings and repairs in areas such as roofs, walls, doors, windows, stairways, handrails, locks, bathroom partitions, ceiling tile, carpet, flooring, sheetrock, concrete steps, ramps, masonry, furniture, cabinets, and countertops. All work is assigned through the Enterprise Asset Management work order system. The employee will be responsible for keeping up with materials and labor costs associated with assigned work orders while maintaining a clean work environment. The individual should also possess the ability to assist the other trades with plumbing, electrical, and heating/ventilation/air conditioning problems. This skilled maintenance level journeyman position requires working under minimal supervision and may perform work independently. The successful candidate must have the ability to follow written and oral instructions and directions. The employee must have knowledge, understanding, and ability to comply with all applicable state and local building and industry standards; structural construction principles; and building and construction materials, techniques, procedures, equipment, and machinery; including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance procedures. They should also have the ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications, American Disabilities Act (ADA) policies and procedures, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Good customer service skills are required in order to assess customers' needs and evaluate customer satisfaction. The physical requirements of the job include, but are not limited to: walking, standing, good vision (corrected vision), stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Must be able to use the hand tools of the job: electric tools such as drills, skill saws, planers, routers, sanders, jigsaws, band saw and table saws, heating or brazing torch, and welders.

The job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA.

Minimum Qualifications:

* High School Diploma/GED with 1 to 3 years of carpentry maintenance or construction experience (indicate pertinent experience on the application in addition to 'other trades' experience)

* OR No High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of carpentry maintenance or construction experience (indicate pertinent experience on the application in addition to 'other trades' experience)

* Valid Driver's License

* Experience using a Computer (indicate experience and software used)

Preferred Qualifications:

* Prior experience working in other mechanical trades (Plumbing, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation, and/or air conditioning problems (indicate areas of experience)

* Knowledge of computer software, iPads, and/or general office equipment
