JOB TITLE: Traffic Signal Technician
DEPARTMENT: Public Works
SUPERVISOR: Project Manager II, Sr.
SALARY RANGE: Traffic Signal Technician $27.20 - $37.88 per hour

REMOTE/HYBRID: Typical schedules are in-office Monday through Friday. Remote or Hybrid work schedules are not available.
RELOCATION: This position is located in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Relocation assistance is not provided.
REQUIREMENTS: The minimum requirement for this position is two years of progressively responsible experience in installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices, including street lights; the equivalent to an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in electronics, electrical engineering or directly related field, or directly related technical trade school certificate or license.

Our Greenwood Village team has an immediate opening for a qualified Traffic Signal Technician. The ideal candidate is someone that takes initiative, exhibits accountability for high quality work and position responsibilities, and enjoys being part of a dynamic team.
As a municipal organization, Greenwood Village is a provider of emergency services. Some emergency situations, including weather-related emergencies, may necessitate Greenwood Village employees to assist in areas of work that may not be directly related to the employee’s specific job function, but which will be within the physical capabilities, training, and skills of the employee.
PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
The primary purpose of this position is to perform highly skilled technical work in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices and street lights to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable traffic flow throughout the Village. Employees are eligible for on-call pay for after hours, emergency response.

Methods, techniques, tools, and equipment used in performing traffic control installation, repair, and maintenance.
Ability to:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Two years of progressively responsible experience in installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices, including street lights.
Training: Equivalent to an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in electronics, electrical engineering or directly related field or directly related technical trade school certificate or license.

Equipment Utilized:
Uses equipment such as aerial lift truck, hand tools, and other mechanized equipment; standard office equipment including computers, printers, telephone, copy machine, and calculator; smart phone; motor vehicle.
Contact with Others:
Regular contact with internal personnel, outside contractors and vendors, and the general public requiring tact to avoid friction.
Hazards:
Field work may involve hazardous situations including working in high traffic areas. Must be physically capable of safely moving around traffic control equipment including lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, regular walking and standing, climbing ladders and being in high situation in a bucket truck elevated above traffic.
May require shift, weekend or off hour, day work; may receive calls on a 24‑hour basis; and may be required to appear on‑site as a result of an emergency situation during off duty hours.

Receives direction from Project Manager II, Sr.
