Are you interested in joining a dynamic Human Resources Team and engaging with the workforce that powers the city? The City of Hampton is looking for an ambitious and innovative candidate wanting to grow their career in the HR field. This HR Associate position offers a hybrid work schedule and is a core component of the City of Hampton's Human Resources Department. We are looking for a key team member who will play a valuable role in providing quality support services for both our current and prospective employees.
Examples of what you will be doing:
  • Leading the new hire onboarding experience, from managing the pre-employment process to helping new employees settle into their departments.
  • Processing data entry and personnel actions is a key function of this role, working closely with members of the Finance, Procurement and Information Technology departments in this process.
  • Partnering with HR team members to discuss your ideas to enhance recruitment and promote employment opportunities in within the city through in-person and virtual hiring events and social media.
  • Managing the Employee Education Assistance Program.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A minimum of two (2) years of college coursework in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field of study; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Requires a minimum of one (1) year of data entry, automated record keeping, document scanning, and administrative support in the areas of recruitment, new employee orientation and employee relations.
  • Experience with computers to include word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, database management, internet and email as well as data entry operations in and Human Resources Information Systems
This is a full-time position with a 40 hour work schedule between the hours of 8am-4:30pm.
