About This Opportunity
The Public Works Department offers an exciting Project Coordinator opportunity within the Capital and Development Division for someone passionate about seeing innovative ideas become the infrastructure our community relies on.
As a Capital Facilities Project Coordinator, you'll be the central figure, ensuring projects aligning with City Council priorities are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. You'll work alongside a diverse and talented team, fostering open communication and leveraging everyone's strengths.
In this role, you'll wear many hats, guiding capital improvement and development projects from initial planning to completion. Expect a dynamic role encompassing budget management, scheduling, stakeholder communication, and navigating building regulations. You'll be the glue holding the project together, collaborating with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure smooth execution within deadlines and budgets.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Key Qualifications
Project Coordination: The ideal candidate is a capital project coordinator with a proven track record. They will be a self-starter who thrives under pressure, managing all aspects of projects – from planning to completion. This dynamic role requires expertise in budgeting, scheduling, stakeholder communication, and navigating building regulations. As the project linchpin, they'll collaborate across internal teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery. Excellent written and verbal communication is key for daily interactions with contractors, engineers, colleagues, and the public.
Project Management: This role supports the Project Manager on large capital projects and manages smaller projects independently. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering capital projects on time and within budget, with strong documentation skills for tasks like plan review, payment processing, and managing various project documents (submittals, contracts, change orders, invoices, bids.
Systems Knowledge: The ideal candidate will possess experience in contract administration, budget management, and cost estimating. Proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD is a plus.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; AND Minimum 2 years of experience in project coordination.
