PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Performs a variety of law enforcement duties in the preservation of public peace and prevention of crimes, including protecting life and property, enforcing all laws and ordinances, investigating crimes and accidents, making arrests, providing credible testimony in various courts, conducting traffic surveys to determine problem areas, assisting in school and community functions, as well as, public relations activities, and other cases as assigned.
APOST CERTIFICATION:Qualified candidates must successfully complete APOST minimum standards, or attain APOST certification, within six months from date of employment with the City of Hoover Police Department. Please do not attach any documents other than cover letters, resumes or military form DD214.
POLICE OFFICER EXAMINATION:Applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be scheduled to participate in a written examination scheduled for Friday, June 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.
Qualified applicants will be sent an email notification of the examination location.
EMPLOYMENT PROCESS:
In order to be eligible for employment with the Hoover Police Department a candidate must successfully complete the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test. You can view the Physical Abilities/Agilities requirements at the following website - http://www.apostc.state.al.us. Go to "Forms" on the left side of the page then scroll to bottom of the page to access the Physical Agility Ability Course. Applicants who pass the written examination will be scheduled to participate in the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test scheduled for Friday, June 28, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. Qualified applicants will be sent an email notification of the Physical Agilities/Abilities location.
Police Officer candidates who meet the minimum requirements and achieve a passing score on the written examination and physical agilities/abilities test will be further screened through our evaluation process, which considers related work experience, education, certifications and special training. Police Officer candidate finalists will then be evaluated based on personal interviews.
