Position SummaryMarion Superior Court is accepting resumes for a full-time Magistrate in the criminal division. This assignment will be in a Level Six Court and the Initial Hearing Court. Magistrates are paid through the State. Benefits, including retirement accounts, are also through the State. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of five years of criminal law experience. Position ResponsibilitiesMay include any of the following:
Conduct initial hearings;
Review and rule on motions;
Review and rule on search warrants;
Preside over Probation and Community Correction violation hearings;
Preside over hearings (including remote hearings) and bench trials;
Preside over jury trials;
Other duties as assigned by the supervising Judge.
QualificationsApplicants must be admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana with five years of practice and be in good standing with the Indiana Supreme Court. Criminal Law Experience Is Required.*Based on statutory compliance IC 33-33-49-32, this vacancy is a democrat position.* Marion County residency is required within six months of date of hire.
