Position SummaryMarion Superior Court is accepting resumes for a full-time Magistrate in the criminal division. This assignment will be in a Level Six Court and the Initial Hearing Court. Magistrates are paid through the State. Benefits, including retirement accounts, are also through the State. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of five years of criminal law experience.
Position ResponsibilitiesMay include any of the following:
Criminal Law Experience Is Required.*Based on statutory compliance IC 33-33-49-32, this vacancy is a democrat position.*
Marion County residency is required within six months of date of hire. Benefits, including medical, dental, vision and retirement, for this position are through the State.

Independent JudgmentIndependent judgment and decision-making is critical.
Position ResponsibilitiesMay include any of the following:
- Conduct initial hearings;

- Preside over Probation and Community Correction violation hearings;
- Preside over hearings (including remote hearings) and bench trials;
- Preside over jury trials;
- Other duties as assigned by the supervising Judge.
