City of Issaquah is Hiring a Seasonal Public Works Maintenance Worker - Highschool Internship Opportunity Near Issaquah, WA

Maintenance of the City owned facilities landscape and utility infrastructure for the Public Works Department. Duties include performing manual labor using a variety of hand tools to accomplish assigned tasks. Work is performed cooperatively and in a manner that ensures individual, co-worker and public safety. Other tasks as assigned.

  • Uses a variety of hand tools such as shovel, pick, rake and pruning shears. 
  • Performs assigned work to maintain planted landscapes.
  • Works with City Crews maintaining a variety of City-owned infrastructure.
  • Under direct supervision, performs general duties necessary to the maintenance of the stormwater infrastructure and facilities, Work is often strenuous and repetitive.
  • Performs assigned work to maintain City-owned sites including paved and non-paved areas.
  • Performs assigned work to maintain inside City-owned buildings including cleaning floors, washing windows, and emptying waste cans.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older. 
  • No prior work experience is required.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of landscape maintenance activities, processes, and duties preferred.
Skill
  • Skill in the use hand tools of the laboring trade.
Ability
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a work crew.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively alone.
  • Ability to sustain continuous physical effort including frequent bending, walking and working on hands and knees gardening.
  • Physical strength and ability sufficient to meet the job requirements for extended periods under uncomfortable conditions in all types of weather.
